Very nice @The doctor is in! I would like to submit 1 bug I have found though. When I hit ESC and pause the game it does not pause I still was killed and able to move around. It looks to me like the pause button script is not working. :)

Right now I am taking a course that uses c# and XNA you may want to check that out Mr. Jel.
I have learned alot so far and it even gives you labs and assigments to do.

@mr jel: I would suggest Unity 3D then.
Even Blizzard used it to make the free to play game called "Hearthstone".

Could I ask, is there any recommendation for a gane engine where there are no month fees, cuts from earnings and somewhat low cost (under £200)? I'm looking at a 3D, open world project.

Yes, RPG Maker is supported here, since some good games were made with it using advanced scripting, custom graphics etc...
