how is everyone playing online anymore? tunggle is dead

Hey, I can see that this group is far past its prime and probable usefulness, but in case anyone would like to know, it is still possible to play multiplayer. I don't know if anyone has a dedicated discord, or anything of the sort, but this seemed like the closest thing to a "community" I could find for this. Theres a well made video, as well as a steam guide in the discription of said video that will help people get it set up. Just bought this game after loving the xbox version for years and the xbox servers going down. Message me anytime id love to play. Also, my Torchlight doesnt work... I know its a issue with newer graphic cards from what ive heard. Anyone have a fix?

Yes, thanks it did work but it brought me some more problems with it. While I use it, I cannot use any gadgets and at times nothing at all. Except the weapon. It is the same with the spy.

Do you mean the Mercenary light, DiGi? Neuromancer posted a link that fixes it. It only works on old computers, otherwise.

It is a known issue with newer hardware across all versions of the game, Douchebag. I posted a thread about it on the forum with a link to the fix.

Yup, I got the MP to work by using an old retail CD-key as well.

MP works fine on my end; I have a old retail CD Key to use, Yay me!

You believe that they responded by giving me a key from double agent game? That game i bought by steam too... so i found out that the key is not served. unacceptable ...

thanks for the help, but it didnt work. that and the fact im on vista, but i went to the versus system folder in steamapps\common and changed the respective number, but nothing happened.

Go to

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ubisoft\Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory

(Note that the "application data" folder may be hidden or named "program data")

There you'll find the save files and a versus folde rwith your settings.
You can't set a resolution manually on this ini file BUT there's a line at the bottom that says something like "changeres=0" (Im not at home to check this).

Change the number to any of these resolutions:
1-640x480
2-800x600
3-1024x768
4-1280x960
5-1600x1200

I hope this info helps you.
It is not possible to set a custom resolution, which is dumb and annoying.

no way to support widescreen resolutions on Chaos Theory multiplayer. it's because of people with a wider viewing angle will have more an advantage over people using 4:3 aspect ratios.


i'm having a different problem all together now. the versus launches fine, and runs okay (minus the CD key), but whenever i change any video settings it crashes straight away. so i'm stuck on the basic settings at 640x480.

anyone know how to fix this?

I got versus running but I still dont have the CD-Key.
The people at steam support said that they were aware of the issue and were looking into it.
By the way, for some reason versus doesn't seems to support widescreen resolutions, any way to fix this?
A cropped 1024x768 resolution is hurting my eyes (literally).

i c well was just wondering because i tryed sometimes to get in a multiplayer in double agent but never realy got in a match everytime when i was looking there was no match going on.

but i will wait till i can do multiplayeron choas theory i always liked to play hide and seek with ppl and fooling them.

Uber, according to the forum posts, very little people play PC Double Agent multiplayer. Many people liked CT's multiplayer much more. And I can see why, considering it is more coplex and bigger.

btw did somebody ever played double agent online on the pc? i did only on the xbox 360 though it looked like that nobody ever played double agent on the pc version.

i hope they fix the CD key this time though.

I haven't tried it yet MadMind. Though the tutorials and information menus seem fine to me.

Ok so they've comfirmed that they are aware of the issues. I'd say we can expect the CD-key issue to be dealt with soon.

Looking back through the topics on the forum, Double Agent didn't have a CD key originally either. But after some time it was finally added in. So I guess we just wait until CD keys are added.

The MP starts just fine, but when you try to login to Ubi Online it will ask for a CD-Key which isn't provided yet with the Steam version.

I can confirm however that a retail CD-Key will work just fine. I entered the key from my old StarForce infected disc and was able to play online with the Steam version.

Hey guys, the MP is now working(for me)! I didn't get any game updates, but I ran versus from the Steam folder, and it just loaded normally.

I think they've fixed the issues. :)
