Good people, I'd like to recommend Hotline Miami to you all. It really is ace. Imagine the movie Drive but as a hard-core, 8-bit, top down stealth/shoot-em-up.

I am a big fan of the intangible ladder that is football. My Rangers team have climbed from the Third Division rung to the First so far!

Hope the Ladders in Black Mesa are true to the original ladders from Halflife.

Remember in Half-Life when the lift fails and you have to use a lovely long ladder?
Always have a backup ladder in case of resonance cascades or rogue A.I.

Playtesters said ladders were too unforgiving.

There were actually entire levels made up of nothing but ladders. Whilst the most rewarding to complete, these levels were also the most taxing on a player's mind, leading to exhaustion and in rare cases, dehydration. Valve found that by using lifts instead, there was a 2% increase in the number of players that made it to the end of the game, so they were cut from the final release.

I started to play Portal 2 and couldn't help but notice the prominent role they give to lifts. I don't understand why Valve didn't simply utilise the ever reliable ladder instead.
