I guess the // was a bit silly for this chat :3 Lets hope this keeps growing, and that everyone invites everyone they think could be interrested in this, as we've been stuck at 46 for a while... :P

Firstly, you fellows are silly with your //. :3

Now, if we were to implement a senate that would have each senator be an individual within the RP, that would cause a problem as the RP is still very much developing(speaking of which, spread the word, invite people!) and there just aren't enough people. But I will take all of your suggestions into account when me and Callum make our final decision.

// Adopting a similar system of government doesn't automatically lead to a puppet-state. >.> What I think you're failing to understand is that the Senate is the upper house thus it should operate in the same manner as a real-life upper house, not a lower house.

Naturally Leopold; I was not implying that in the slightest.

// I think that there is no point in adopting to an American senate. Might as well become an American puppet, in that case. Let us stick to European (French inspired, in this case) politics and traditions. The French are, after all, proud of their country and traditions .

The senate in this group should, as I proposed before, keep itself busy with things that normally real-life lower houses would busy themselves with. Proposing and voting on new laws and regulations. This is only a role-playing group with a limited amount of people after all.

//even if they are part of the same party, that doesn't mean they have to vote the same as the rest of the party
Mr. Tibbs 14 Apr, 2015 @ 4:08pm
// We could design the Senate to function like the American Senate. ;) In regards to Senate elections, I would suggest having individuals join parties and then run as candidates for their respective parties. The only issue with that is that candidates could theoretically all run as members of the same party thus giving them disproportionate control of the Senate.
Rhen 14 Apr, 2015 @ 1:13pm
// Well, I think the senate should do the job of a normal lower house as we know it; propose, debate, etc. on new laws and regulations, and in the end, vote for or against them.

I mean, there's little else you can have them do.
Horsman 14 Apr, 2015 @ 12:56pm
// Things have to be taken slowly, letting this grow before doing factions shiz is not a bad idea
Cerux 14 Apr, 2015 @ 12:08pm
Well, you can always be a party member, but everything is dependant on the party chairman. Anyway, to your question.. The senatorial elections have not yet taken place at this time. And that also works in our favour as me and Callum have not yet exactly decided how we want the Senators to work as they do elect the President after all..

I was thinking perhaps having the Senators work in a similar fashion to the lower house. There is also the issue of factionalism which could be looked into. Wherein the parties could be broken up into factions and control of the seats would be divided. But I believe we're too small a group at the moment to consider that.

// For those interested in taking part in the political side of this role-play ( National Assembly ), do we need to sign up for a political party somehwere, and if yes, where? I've only seen a discussion about being a political party chairman , nothing else. I only wish to be a senator.

You may ask for division and corps commissions. The Army and Supreme Staff is to the government to decide.

And Eddy takes all my ideas!! xD
Not that I am against it since I have "copied" many of them myself! xD
Cerux 8 Apr, 2015 @ 2:01pm
Shh, Vinther. For those who don't know, he is the owner of another RP group that came up with a similar format to this.
Vinther 8 Apr, 2015 @ 7:26am
copycat :P
Cerux 8 Apr, 2015 @ 5:50am
Oh, why thank you. Me and Callum try. :3 Anyway, one of the things I should probably mention is that these parties(in the Polital Party Sign Up discussion) are only temporary. Once we ease into the feel of the RP, we shall have an election where parties that follow at least some form of historical accuracy will sign up. How elections will work, I hear you ask. Well, go check the forums or ask me or Callum.
Mr. Tibbs 5 Apr, 2015 @ 5:55pm
I like this role-play concept.
