I never really beat HL1, but I know how it works and what it should have. If you need someone who has basic knowledge of the unity3d engine, I think that at this point, I could do something great, especially seeing what I've done with my own indie game (which still isn't very far along, but gaining strength).
Either way, unity does well on mobile (I know because I have a lot of unity things for it), and I really wish steam supported mobile games (e.g. stuff like indie games with android versions were supported through steamplay).
About the actual unity engine -- I only just got the editor, and I'm still learning how to use it, but I think that hl1 has a lot of potential on this.
