Hey fellow Player!! Theres a new game that came out called Demon and I think it a game worthy of playing! It's a roguelike with alot of minion aspects to it. Your a summoner who is possessed by a relic which give you somewhat weak powers and your first minion to control when you walk into a demon tower. This game is all about capturing minions and making them attack/support for you or other mininons you captured as you progress through the floor of the tower. There are many unique and rare monster to capture that have their own powers that are hard to find through the many floors that you go through. You can even fuse your minions together to make stronger ones which gives it a slight pokemon feel to it.

Darkest Dungeon is a true roguelike, you should check it out if thats what you're after.

There's quite a few regular roguelikes in there too, if you look for 'em (ToME probbaly being the best one). But there a lot more roguelites on Steam than the former.

This group curates roguelites (or roguelike-likes), not roguelikes.

Roguelites tend to be games that have procedural generation and permadeath, but are usually not turn based, are based more on other genres (e.g Spelunky and Ziggurat), and often even reward dying by giving you unlocks or making you stronger next time anyway (BoI, RogueLegacy). As you say, they are usually massively less complicated, and more about twitch gaming than tactically planning your turns.

You should play Downwell!

What makes a game "Roguelite"? Like are certian aspects of Roguelikes watered down to provide a less complicated experience or what?

I am looking forward to Caves of Qud.. been playing it for a while, but now that they finished Sproggiwood they can get back to updating CoQ.

Glad to be part of this group. I'm relatively new to the genra. Which is to say I've been playing roguelikes since the 80's but only recently found out the genra had a name.

I really wish Cataclysm was on steam... This list brings me comfort.

I had hoped to recommend more roguelikes than roguelites though, but Steam doesn't have that many classic roguelikes in their library at the moment.
