i forgot about the discord, thanks man!
PsiComa 16 Dec, 2017 @ 4:34pm
We use Discord this this now, and you're in luck cause people there were looking to play.
Mon 16 Dec, 2017 @ 3:43pm
would anyone be down for a game tonight?
PsiComa 23 Aug, 2017 @ 1:16am
Reason this place is silent is because the community has effectively moved to Discord. Get in! :)

Video casually explaining basic rules
PsiComa 19 Apr, 2017 @ 1:47pm
Just informing people that more and more games are simply starting after casual chat on the Discord channel. So if you're looking for a game, joining the Discord channel is a great start!
PsiComa 25 Feb, 2017 @ 3:11am
Hi, everybody! Hope you're all doing great. We've well exceeded 250 members in the group now, which is really neat :) The introduction thread is hidden in Steam's arcane sub-forum system, so I'd just like to bring it back out and urge you all to write a couple of lines about yourselves.

Also, it could prompt further growth of the community if we got this rated as a 5-star mod. For that we need 150 likes, and so far we only have 90. Considering the number of people in this group, it could happen really quickly if everyone just tap that like button .
Cyrusa 19 Feb, 2017 @ 2:48pm
A tournament of which form?
Duel brackets? Play a few games with the same people and see who ends up with the most elo points? 6 player games with 3 teams of 2?
Randers 19 Feb, 2017 @ 4:17am
I like the idea to take part of a tournament :D
PsiComa 17 Feb, 2017 @ 3:48am
Would it it be cool to set up a tournament, or is it enough to have elo-points running?
Playerslayer21 3 Feb, 2017 @ 9:49am
Thanks alot :D
andbruu 3 Feb, 2017 @ 4:32am
@Cyrusa. Great. Even though I like the presets, its great to have the option - atleast until more 5p maps are made.
Cyrusa 3 Feb, 2017 @ 2:22am
I fixed the GameStarter in the Nova mod so that it acknowledges the existence of Star-byStar. There is still no automated scripting, but at least it now tells you where to find the Star-by-Star procedure, where to find the tiles and tokens, and the parameters for the TTS grid.
Playerslayer21 2 Feb, 2017 @ 8:34am
Works perfectly, thanks a bunch! :D
PsiComa 2 Feb, 2017 @ 8:23am
I tried a bit and it seems like grid size 1.925 is working. Hopefully that'll work as a hotfix for you.
Playerslayer21 2 Feb, 2017 @ 7:58am
I tried messing around with it. Tried 3, 3.5, 2 but wasn't really helping. Not all that familiar with the grid so wouldn't know how to really tweak the grid to fix again
PsiComa 2 Feb, 2017 @ 7:56am
Yeah, we totally need grid snapping to work (for anything else than the pre-sets, although that's the most common thing to go for). As you say there's probably been a change in TTS we haven't been aware of. Maybe some other number than 2.5 works these days?
Playerslayer21 2 Feb, 2017 @ 7:28am
Yeah double checked it is but they just don't slot together. Really odd cause it worked in the past. I don't know if tabletop sim maybe changed grids in someway? Whenever you got time, just wanna play a star by star setup game with some people and it would make it much simpler :)
PsiComa 2 Feb, 2017 @ 7:19am
Hmm.. I'll try and look into it when I've got time. Make sure you have HEX and not SQUARE enabled.
Playerslayer21 2 Feb, 2017 @ 6:52am
Don't know if it's just me but for some reason grid snapping doesn't appear to work anymore when placing tiles. I've set grid snapping to hex at 2.5 centre but the tiles won't slot together. It's really odd as it worked in the past. Might be missing something
andbruu 11 Jan, 2017 @ 5:48am
@thank you! I will look in physical for how many tiles ill need to add.
PsiComa 11 Jan, 2017 @ 5:48am
Hum... I'm at work and don't have the possibility to check right now, but in an earlier version we had a default map on startup, and I don't remember if we took out the corresponding tiles from the bag to avoid duplicates of unique tiles, and then forgot to add them back.
Anyway, regarding the non-unique tiles the answer is simple, copy-paste how many you need. It's easy to find the number somewhere; either in your box or in the rulebooks for the different expansions and base game. BTW; To place tiles manually, turn on grid-snapping for hex at 2.5 size (center).

For the units we just "keep track". I keep the quotation mark there because you will almost never actually reach those limits, and SA is not very dependent on plastic limits as a balancing factor. The scholars debate whether we can remove plastic cap completely, for now I suggest you don't worry too much about it.
andbruu 11 Jan, 2017 @ 5:35am
@PsiComa
How would I go about doing the star-by-star option? I know how it would function in real life, but on TTS I can't seem to find all the tiles in one place. I have located the 12 non-unique tiles and the 43 planets and unique tiles. However, It seems there is only one asteroid field, and as I recall it there should be multiple. I could go through my physical copy and count how many I should add, and if any other tiles should have multiple copies, but if you already have a trick for this, I would like your input.
In addition, how do you normally handle unit count limitation? Do you copy out each unit type, or do you just "keep track" of it as the game goes?
I can't wait to get started, and neither can the old friends that I used to play with when the game first came out.
PS: the NOVA board scrip does not seem to accept my input of going "star-by-star" and still asks me to deploy a map-tile.
PsiComa 9 Jan, 2017 @ 7:51am
The base mod recently adapted the same (vertical) layout. Future differences will probably just be that the NOVA mod will include a lot of scripted assets and gaming aids while the base mod will focus at being clean, bare-bone and "close to the board game".
MelficeBelmont 9 Jan, 2017 @ 6:59am
Is there somewhere that the differences between SA4.2 and SA4.2 nova layout is mentioned. At a glance I see a few but wanted to know all of them?

Thanks, man! I have promised people to make a vid explaining the rules, as soon as life lets me. But until you have some options:
1) learn from other players on the site in a practice game.
2) read the complete rewritten rulebook (if you don't know TI3 from before)
3) read the patch rules booklet (if you know TI3 from before).
Darthcaboose 29 Dec, 2016 @ 2:08pm
Just saw the video. Mighty impressed! Gonna go learn the rules for this fangled Shattered Ascension variant and hopefully join a game soon.

Quite a few new faces around. Feel free to say a few words about yourselves :)

Welcome! No need for hoping, just sit your ass down and play. Check out the introductions thread and the looking for players thread. Or just join the european weekly game night. We had an american group starting too, but it has not gotten that regular as of yet.

Hi everyone,
haven't played TI3 for ages, love that playing it online finally is becoming a thing and hope to be a part of it sometime. :tgrin:
Meduion 26 Nov, 2016 @ 8:32am
Hello. I'm new to playing TI3 online, but very interested in doing so! What's the best way to organize a game with people for my first match? I'm in the Pacific time zone.
PsiComa 25 Nov, 2016 @ 8:03am
Small announcement: The main TI3:SA forum is being moved to a new home at www.astralvault.net/games/forum ... See you there! :)
GrooWalker 18 Nov, 2016 @ 5:54am
That would be good. I watched a video of TI3 and it seems like there is plenty to know.
PsiComa 18 Nov, 2016 @ 12:06am
Awesome, see you in some weeks. With some luck ive managed to make a video explaining the rules by that time.
GrooWalker 17 Nov, 2016 @ 2:54pm
I am an avid board game player and am interested in this game on EU time zone. I will have to learn the rules first and on a business trip soon, so in a few weeks...
PsiComa 26 Oct, 2016 @ 12:09am
Cool to see 12 people showing up for the european tuesday game yesterday, enabling us to run two full simultaneous games! :)
PsiComa 21 Sep, 2016 @ 11:20pm
We try to get everyone using the password twilight
Mon 21 Sep, 2016 @ 3:45pm
What is the password for the game going on right now on TTS? I just want to watch for a bit...maybe play if it's not too late.
Cyrusa 17 Sep, 2016 @ 1:47pm
Rejoice, for the "button bug" (buttons not disappearing properly for the clients, or even crashing them) is no more!
PsiComa 13 Sep, 2016 @ 3:50pm
Folks, gotta say it's awesome to have 160 members in this group -and counting! :)

I guess most of you in this group appreciate the immense work involved in making, refining and continued development of both this game and its TTS mod, with the goal of keeping Twilight Imperium 3rd edition relevant, modern and alive far into the future. Big updates are just added, and big updates are to come if we manage to spare the energy and time to get around. Anyway, if you want to do your thing to help, or just show some appreciation or gratitude, please hit that like-button (rate up) under the picture on the mod page ; each rating means the world to the hard working crew, but perhaps more importantly, more ratings brings even more awesome players to the table for ya'll to play.

Thanks again, everyone! :)

Cyrusa 15 Aug, 2016 @ 1:21pm
And here it is! An alternative layout for the awesome Shattered Ascension mod, aimed at making it easier for players to access the information they need, such as the race sheets of the other players, or the Technologies they have researched.

You can try it out by subscribing to this TTS mod .

Its codename is the Nova Layout. Enjoy!

Sounds good...I have a weird schedule that changes almost every day, but whenever the planets align will be fine. Most often I'd be available from about now (20-21 utc) for the next 16 hours or so (til about 12utc).
PsiComa 8 Aug, 2016 @ 3:33am
Indeed, we can run a small 2-3 player learning game, for example :) Ill try to find some time this week. Iirc you were at eastern american time zone, so if i play late it'll be just after work ours for you. Ill try to hang out on the chat from now on.
theprinceofwands 7 Aug, 2016 @ 6:58pm
If anyone with experience using the mod has a spare hour sometime I'd love to do a short example setup and first round or two to get more comfortable with it. I've gone through the TTS tutorial and intro posts, but finding it a little difficult to translate into practical game use. Have played a couple games of vanilla TI3 now, so am vaguely familiar with the game itself...just struggling with using the mod. Want to be more comfortable with it before I jump into full games with others.
PsiComa 31 Jul, 2016 @ 6:22am
Since Steam's group forums are super difficult to find, even for people in the group, I thought I'd share Thrombo's game report from yesterdays full game:

Be sure to check out the other threads and sub-forums too!

I encourage everyone to use the same password so people from the group may enter games to spectate without hassle. So far we've used the password 'twilight'. I guess it's as good as any.
