linux-steam-utils is an abstraction.

The linux-steam variant (linux-steam-utils) is the best that you can have.

Having Steam native also means that you need somehow native games, otherwise only the linux emu stuff would be interesting again what we have above.

I'm still waitin for that native FreeBSD Steam binary... But thats only in my wet dreams I guess. The two methods to install Steam in FreeBSD(either with wine or with the abstraction) is a nice approach to FreeBSD gaming, but I want even more. But we BSDler are still in the minority, so no progress in regards to the native FreeBSD Steam binary :(

Well it depends. For my router, dns and mailserver it works better. it's more lightweight and robust so therefore i expect it to be more secure too for this purpose.

Although i run several vms with openbsd and used it for a while on my chinkpad

but none of those can run windows games
