What Happened To Spy Games?
What happened to games about spies?

Splinter Cell, Metal Gear Solid, Mission Impossible, Syphon Filter, Alpha Protocol.

The genre used to be huge.

metal gear just had the MGS3 remake, and i believe splinter cell is coming back. alpha protocol is kind of fun, but its standard obsidian, and therefore extremely rushed and unfinished.

For them to be good in 2025, you need quality AI. Devs don't want to invest into the AI.

A splinter cell style game with machine learning ai like what's in Arc Raiders could be amazing, though.

i think the thing with Metal Gear is since kojima left things havent been the same, but still i think the remake is good and hopefully the future is good!

i want a metal gear 1 and 2 remake, not MGS1 and 2, but the original metal gears. they are rather short games, so they could even just smush them together into 1 remake.

especially after the revelations in MGS5 where we learn that the big boss in metal gear 1 is actually venom snake.
