The future of Hardware in 2026
How do you guys think the hardware market is going to fare next year?
Do you think GPUs are going to get super super expensive due to the AI debauchery? Apparently Nvidia is rumored to be cutting production by 40% and is no longer providing VRAM to its partners. AMD is rumored to have modest price increases as well.

Do you think the RAMpocalypse will end? Or will it persist through 2027? Or maybe RAM will never get cheap again?

Even unrelated parts such as cases, PSUs, and CPU coolers?

i would assume not but hey these are greedy corporations we're talking abt haha

Supposedly we're not going to get SUPER models of the main Nvidia cards anymore due to the increased RAM cost... zen 6 is launching by the end of the year still?

The nova lake desktop stuff from intel supposedly is early 2027. Doesn't look like a great year overall if you want to upgrade to something substantially faster than the best right now that's for sure.

Probably ease of somewhat by end of 2027, some manufacturers are building new factories, that'll take a few years.

Also, when China catches up, and when they built enough factories to start exporting, that'll ease the shortage I rekon. Even then they have their own internal AI race to suck up supply.

For us outside the west, we don't buy the "CCP spying" propaganda meant to control people. My OS is Windows, my phone is Chinese, that OS is Android, if I believe it, then I'd believe two governments are spying on me right this moment. You know how much data that is, every second of every day? Who is going to crunch that data? They'll need GPUs to process it, why not use those GPUs and the electricity on Crypto mining instead? At least there is money in that, compared to parsing worthless spy data, as if compute cost is cheap, now multiply that amount of data billions of times for every individual said government is spying on.

do i have to build another 1...

Right now is the cheapest anything's gonna be. Buy/build what you want now, or be ready to have the cost of it go through the roof.

More artificial inflation.

While pollution in America increases by 1000% to reorganize and build factories and equipment to process the necessary materials—in short, to resemble China—China decides to reduce Nvidia's H200s and stops sending requests for resources to American data centers.
The Americans begin recycling scraps and defective products to keep demand low.
Amd, Intel, and Nvidia drastically slow down production and research while waiting for factories to be available for processing.

China begins to show the world products that surpass everything previously known, and meanwhile the world begins to buy only PCs made in China.

America presents its artificial intelligences, which turn out to be pitiful and useless.

China trains its artificial intelligences in any environment; even robots walk around the street and learn empathy by observing humans. By the end of 2026, Chinese artificial intelligences will be in demand around the world. China is beginning to come up with ideas to eliminate the concept of money and replace it with monthly credit for its population.

They probably will eventually. Sales will keep falling, so production will have to be reduced, which usually increases production costs per unit.

Those might actually go down for a while since sales will go down too. But companies will start going out of business and that might lead to shortages and price hike.
Not a great picture for the next couple of years (at least).

And with all that, lets not forget it will also affect game sales and games will start getting cancelled or not being put into production.

ultimately they cant go past what the market will support, but ai has figured out the dynamic of creating a shortage and sense of urgency so people will pay 5X as much for a targeted item .. like ram or gpu's .. if people just wouldnt buy into the hype it would at least keep it in check .. use your head .. if ram is 700$ then buy a fricken console instead right now lol ..ignore their bs ..

AI is going to "crunch that data"

AI is not about making like better for the peons, it's about giving the government more / better tools to rapidly collate data.
