Because they don't need to attract new users like Epic does.

It's as simple as that.

When you're already at the top. You don't exactly need to buy your way up like Epic does.

because like the person said, they don't have to atract people to this store making them migrate over these marketing strategies, the same thing is with gog how they want to migrate people in to their store by creating FUD (fear, uncertanity, doubt) surrounding drm/license calling it "best drm free store" " free of license" even though it can be easily debunked with actual source that all of the pc stores are just basic drm free clients ensuring their API in steam case "steamworks" works before launching the game and depedning how well integrated steamworks API is, game can run without steam running in the background, while license is just legal term of software ownership.
It's because Epic is trying to build a userbase.

They chose to use free games.

But that isn't going to last forever.

Epic has spent billions in exclusivity deals and free games, and has made ZERO profit on the EGS.
What's this week with all the giveaway threads?
Are Epic giveaways not making numbers?

Probably because the "list of AAA games that Epic will definitely give away" turned out to be fake.
So now they want someone else to be their Santa.
the tin cup does rattle....
I sense a throwaway account... Just who are you, an Epic user?

Many of us are Epic and Steam users with no direct affiliation or loyalty to either platform since both view us as nothing more than a number. The idea of fanboying over an online store to the point of paying money for a game on one platform when it is free on another wouldn’t make sense to anyone thinking rationally.

And many of us really don't care where people get their games. But it's odd how often we get multiple posts all asking the same question, pitting Steam against Epic, for whatever reason.
