the animated avatar frames are simply frozen for anyone's profile i visit on both browser and client. Is there any known fixes for this issue?

It is related to the Operating System (for me Win 11) settings!

Go Windows Settings -> Accessibility -> Visual effects -> Animation effects: On
---> this should make avatar frames animated again!

already disabled, tried enabling and disabling it and they're still frozen
Same problem here!
Mouseovers and miniprofile popup frames are still animated but main big profile page avatar frame animation has stopped suddenly!

I tried fresh Steam install, cleared cache and changed web settings but nothing worked!

exactly, hovering over the pfp and mini profiles are still animated, just not the full profile itself

at this point, it might be a steam problem

This solved my problem, tysm!

for anyone that couldn't find this setting in Windows 10: Press Win+U and the settings window will open up, scroll down until you find an option called "Show animations in Windows", turn it on and it should work like a charm.

Is there any way to fix this on Steam without turning on the other animations everywhere? I much prefer windows to appear instantly instead of sliding or fading in.
After you enable animations using "Animation Effects: On", you can turn off most of the other animations you might not want, such as windows animating on minimize/maximize.

Go to Settings > System > Somewhere on the page there will be a link for "Advanced system settings" > Performance (Settings button)

Uncheck the ones you don't want. Personally I have disabled the following:
- Animate windows when minimizing and maximizing
- Fade or slide menus into view
- Fade or slide ToolTips into view
- Fade out menu items after clicking
- Slide open combo boxes
- Smooth-scroll list boxes

Most things will be instant again after those changes. Sadly, the Start Menu still slides up, but I can live with that. :jcdenton:

Appreciate this useful information, apparently only the "Animate controls and elements inside windows" matters to keep the profile animations going on, the rest of the boxes are a personal preference to check. Thank you for sharing this!
