Dialog script is pathetic
It's so sugar-coated, it's even worse than Disney! The "mean" dialog sounds like it was censored by the Parents Committee on Decency. And I'm NOT talking about the one that created the ESRB.

It's based in a book series for children (yes, HP was written for children) and rated PEGI 12. What did you expect?

"You, they/them, are a gentle*person* and a scholar." Wasnt in any books I ever read as a kid.

Hell, my school made me read the original huckleberry fin and nobody got offended by any word in that book which todays soft kids would unironically call terrorism. (I'm not even 30 yet. Christ.)

Anyway, as far as the dialogue goes, I'm more annoyed that the game hand holds you by giving you solutions to puzzles every 10 seconds instead of giving the player time to look around a room to figure it out.

Oh, and how they didn't bother to record any lines addressing the player as he, or she (which was dileberately to coddle and satiate the cry-bullies who hate the game anyway) is also dumb.

By Harry Potter's 5th year, they had an adult party, Hermoine and Ron kissed, and several children had been murdered. Also, the Slytherin were MUCH more verbally vicious than what I got in this game.

Agreed. I really hoped that this game would be like the later HP movies and books, but it hasn't really lived up to my expectations unfortunately. I still have fun with it, and it's pretty fun, but not what I would've hoped for. Oh well, and the least the devs had the courage to add unforgivable curses.

I doubt the Unforgivable Curses had anything to do with the literature. It sounded more like a game design choice - whether or not to add elements that felt like cheating. I did like how they implemented that whole aspect - making it sound like it was a difficult moral choice on the part of the character, not just the player.

Sure but the subject matter of the unforgivable curses has always been a big mature narrative standpoint in the books and movies. I get what you mean though, the dialogue isn't as varied as in the books and it most certainly isn't as mean or mature, which is a con for sure. I was expecting to at least have a Snape character or a bully or someone that doesn't lick my boots for 5 seconds while telling me how I'm the best witch ever, but so far the game hasn't provided that at all, and as a result, every character just feels kinda flat and samey. Perhaps if the game ever gets a sequel, it'll make you a year 7 or something of the sort with a much darker, possibly rated M story.

your character isnt made to be an evil/vicious person I dont understand why people don't seem to comprehend that

Yeah, not a really well made game, short, bland and with terrible, terrible writting, even if one is to ignore the forced lgbtq thing, I'd say it is about 6/10 and I would not buy it again on realase at all. I just cannot stop comparing it to the titles realased in the last decade and unfortunatelly it is subpar to them in almost everything.

Then why did they even add mean dialog choices? If the PC was meant to be entirely nice, they could have left out that dialog option! The ending choice also negates your point.

The writing was pretty bad even if aimed at kids. It really didn't do justice to the world they created.

I wish the dev gave us REAL stories. Like a consequence for being mean to the potion con artist Fatima Lawang. She loses Pippin as a supplier, turns to the Poachers who give her second-rate ingredients, and she ends up permanently invisible.

I had such a different experience than some of you guys and gals.

I loved the dialogue and enjoyed the main character. You get a few flavor moments to be naughty if you want (ask for more money, keep animals for yourself, etc.), but otherwise aren't too bad a person. Didn't mind it at all. This isn't the kind of game where I'd expect to be a sociopath fiend.

Only real grievance I had was that the developers reduced the number of potential voice lines by using third person plural at almost all times. "They did a good job. They are my student, and I'm quite proud of them."

I'm sure it saved some major cash. Record one voice line instead of two, hundreds of times, across 10 or so languages. Big savings, but... nobody talks like this. It's jarring and always will be. I'm literally standing next to Professor Fig and it's readily apparent that I'm a dude in wizard robes and formal slacks. I'd hope he'd be able to recognize that I'm a singular dude and not multiple people, given such overwhelming evidence. Nope.

But that's it. Small grumble about cost-savings taking precedence over proper dialogue. I can live with it. This was a good showing for the studio.

Never mind all the people you murder and animals needlessly killed. They should have gone the Dishonored route and had differences in the world caused by player behavior and choices. But I guess that level of design was too much.

Reminds me a little of the hollow morality of MechWarrior 5 where, in order to get revenge on the man who kills the protags father, you kill hundreds if not thousands of completely unrelated people cutting a swath to your dad's killer.

Face it, most games have pretty laughable morality and this one has the thinnest of veneers covering its lack of depth.

Thank you for understanding the REAL intent of the use of a global pronoun. All this "trans agenda" BS is just from fire-fueling trolls.
