The Big Air Compound UPDATE!

Hi everyone!

We've just dropped a BIG CONTENT UPDATE for Descenders on Steam - the Big Air Compound Update! We know you've all been dying for more Descenders maps (you ask us EVERY DAY, and we love it) so of course, we had to scratch that itch before 2025 is wrapped up! But wait, not only have we got NEW MAPS, we've got a NEW BIKE TYPE, and we aren't stopping there - BRAND NEW MISSIONS, and even MORE CUSTOMIZATION ITEMS for your rider (did someone say they needed a bucket hat?)

We can't just bring out a new bike park without new missions, so be sure to go check your GRAND TOUR! You'll find a new set of objectives specifically for the new Big Air Compound map, all with new customization unlocks! On top of that, we thought this update was the perfect one for a new bike type too, since we've not had a new one for quite some time! But of course, we can't NOT add in some new gear items too! Shall we get into what's waiting for you?

NEW BIKE PARKS

We've added a BRAND NEW map, the Matt Macduff inspired Big Air Compound! Matt MacDuff is a pro mountain biker from Canada, who is known for building some of the biggest backyard jumps in the world, one of them being his well known Big Air Compound!

Many thanks to Matt, Phillips Sodaworks and Industry Nine for giving us some awesome real life art! Practice your tricks & beat your airtime record in this high octane map! Shall we move on to our favourite mod maps?

UTAH TRAILS

Take to the dirt in Utah Trails, thanks to our talented community member, Wiking! With lots of steep & downhill action, can you make it to the bottom in one piece? This might be the perfect map to try out that new bike type...

GRASSHOPPER DH

We're moving from the dirt to the forest! Another great map by Wiking, Grasshopper DH is filled with high speed action & lots of twists and turns! Try not to bail, and watch out for those trees, there's a lot of them...

BIKEOUT 5

Of course, how can we ever neglect the BikeOuts? We know how much you love them 👀 We're bringing you BikeOut 5, the next one in the series! Filled with even more challenging stunts & tricks than ever before, how fast are you going to master this beast?

NEW GRAND TOUR MISSIONS & CUSTOMIZATION

You'll find a bunch of NEW missions in the Grand Tour, which will unlock brand NEW customization items! We've also added a brand new bike type, which will unlock when completing the Big Air Compound missions: the BRNZL Enduro - the perfect bike to balance power & agility!

For customization, we've added NEW hoodies (unlocked through missions), and a NEW item set: Phillips shirts and a Big Air Compound hoodie (which can be unlocked through Big Air Compound missions). We've also sneaked in a bucket hat too - how fast can you unlock it?

BUG FIXES & QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

Riot Tour routes adjusted as they were too easy to complete when resetting the level
If a player doesn't have an unlocked item in the inventory, selecting "Reward Claimed" again will now reward the item again
Fixed a bug where an error message would pop-up for Race Mode when no bike parks have been selected
Fixed a bug where RageSquid Riot Tour route missions were triggering too soon when retrying in Bike Park mode
Bike Parks Island Cakewalk, Jump City and Utah Trails now have new Out Of Bounds triggers that shoot the player back when trailing off
Mt. Slope now has banners to indicate the start direction for race mode-
Grand Tour mission & Career Plus progress are now added to cloud save
New platform icons showing if players are on Linux, and updated the Mac graphic
The Shed now has a working interactable (draggable) scrollbar to scroll through items, and also uses the mouse wheel for interaction

We're expecting to launch this update on other platforms ASAP - keep an eye out, we should have it for you very soon!

NEW MAPS & BikeOut!

Hi everyone!

We wanted to tell you about some exciting things coming to Descenders, including a new bikeout, and NEW mod maps! We also recently brought out an update to Descenders to address the recent Unity security issue.

BikeOut 5

Are you ready to test your skills and tackle a brand new Bikeout?! Introducing BikeOut 5, with more ramps, jumps, obstacles and silly bails like never before!

New MOD maps: Utah Trails & Grasshopper DH

We know how much you love your mod maps, so we're bringing two favourites to Descenders! Soon, you'll be able to ride the dirt tracks of Utah Trails & Grasshopper DH! Thanks to Wiking for these awesome tracks!

SECRET NEW BIKE PARK

We've got a super secret Bike Park in the works - we haven't got anything to show you yet, but we just wanted to start the hype train early and get you ready for when it drops! STAY TUNED

Thank you for an AMAZING Descenders Next Launch!

Hi everyone!

It has been an incredible launch for Descenders Next! In just 24 hours, since we shadow dropped the game, we have had over 100,000 of you jumping in and taking on the snowy peaks & dirt tracks! For context, it took the original Descenders 18 MONTHS to get those kind of numbers, so we are truly amazed at how many of you turned out to the launch, and we can't thank you enough!

So, we've been receiving super useful feedback from you all while you've been playing, and we've already got a plan of things we're wanting to look at! Here is a quick run-down of a few things we've seen pop up often:

Speed: We know a lot of you are speed demons, but we hear that you'd like a bit more control over it too, so we're having a look at how we can make high speeds feel a bit easier to handle
Brakes: We've seen a few of you ask for some sort of brake mechanic to help with the high speeds, so this is something we're also taking a look at, which would also help with the speed topic from earlier
Multiplayer Game Modes: We hear you! We're looking at even more Multiplayer modes and opportunities to play with your friends, and more ways to smoothly progress through the map with your party

Two huge updates. One DAY.

We've got some big things coming for Descenders & Descenders Next. Strap yourselves in and get ready for Descenders Day, which is landing on July 21. We're gonna be telling you all about the next big update for Descenders, and reveal when Descenders Next is coming (yes, really)

Descenders Next Demo Update / Play With Devs!

Hi everyone!

We hope you've all been enjoying the new demo for Descenders Next - we know we have!

Don't forget, you can also grab Descenders for 75% OFF on Steam right now!

As always, thank you for sending in your feedback and bug reports, we've been watching the demo closely & we've just dropped a small new update! Here's a quick rundown of the patch notes:

Optimized terrain shader settings: We've removed tessellation on medium and below settings, so this will help performance on players on medium or lower settings, and should also improve performance on Steam Deck
Tutorial adjustment: The tutorial will now push you to the world map instead of the option of hanging around Rabbit Hill
Steam Deck: The game will now automatically preset the visuals on Steam Deck for smooth frame rate

For Steam Deck users in particular, to get the best out of your performance in Descenders Next, we recommend doing the following:

1. Press the Quick Access menu button (3 dots on the right).
2. Scroll down to the Performance tab (Lightning Symbol)
3. In there, change the Refresh Rate to 40hz

Play with the Devs!

We're also running a Play with the Devs session tomorrow, which means you can hop into the demo and play some games with some of the team at RageSquid & No More Robots! We'll be running the session at 12:30 CET / 11:30 GMT, so come hang out with us in the Discord,[discord.gg] and join the Descenders Next voice channel if you're wanting to chat with us!

The Descenders Next Beta is now over! We want to thank you for taking part and helping us with your thoughts, invaluable feedback, and of course, bug catching!

We're now approaching the last 24 HOURS before the end of the Descenders Next Beta!

We've learnt a lot over the last few weeks, and thanks to your invaluable feedback, we've managed to implement lots of cool changes, with a lot of exciting ones to come! We're gonna be talking about everything you can expect, including changes and improvements we'll be making based on the feedback we've received, so be sure to keep an eye out when we drop some post beta discussion!
