Should I buy it?
It would be my very first retro game and I honestly have no idea whether I will like it or not.

The only "Pixel Art" game that I played so far is Minecraft.

EDIT: Yes, Retro games are Pixel Art games, except for Minecraft of course.

"Terrors to Unveil - Day Off" is also a Retro Art game but it was released on December 12th.

Regarding your question John, Stardew Valley is totally worth adding to your game library. The game is worth it full price and worth it when on sale. If you have a hesitation, watch some videos on YouTube and perhaps pick it up when on sale. There are a ton of things to do, romances to be had (if that is your thing), it can be adventurous if you want it to be, or it can be a chill cozy game. There will be aspects that might frustrate you, but that will come with any game. I hated fishing in Stardew Valley, now it is one of my favorite things to do.

I didn't know that games released in 2016 are considered retro now...

But in all seriousness, this game feels retro with its pixel art and CD quality soundtrack, but plays more like a modern day evolution of the Harvest Moon games, mainly the SNES one, which this game was heavily inspired by. :celeste_strawberry:

This game is dirt cheap (especially when on sale like it is now) and contains more content than most AAA games nowadays, with plenty of free content updates provided throughout the years with more to come. It has a lot of respect for the player and their time, with a great progression structure and satisfying game loop. :corncob:

You may find yourself hopelessly addicted to it like I was - I still remember when I first played this and only wanted to enjoy it for about half an hour before playing something else; the next thing I realise I was hooked on it for several hours at once. :heart_eyes_mechanic:

There's a lot to do in the game - catch fish, interact with the townsfolk, participate in festivals, fight monsters in the mines, decorate your house, and so much more. It's a lot more than just planting crops and making money from them; there's a surprising amount of depth to it that makes even repeat playthroughs enjoyable. :stardrop:

Yes you should get the game 100%.
Side note: Minecraft is older than this game, i don't know why you exclude it from being "retro".
I'm definitely biased as this is one of my faves of all time. but I always recommend this title. It kind of depends on what you're looking to get out of it also. This game can be super min/max-y or completely laid back and chill. CA has done an amazing job creating compelling characters and, IMO, fun gameplay.
What kind of game are you looking for?
370,000 overwhelmingly positive reviews! Either you enjoy this type of game or you don't. There is plenty of enjoyment to be had and lots of little secrets to discover beyond the gameplay. I hope you decide to give it a go!

yes, althought it also supports steam family share, so if your friend/spouse bought the game you dont need in theory to buy it.
