I know many players from around the world are curious about why this game has suddenly received many negative Chinese reviews. We (players from China) are boycotting some actions by the game’s official developers that harm player rights. Let me briefly explain what happened and the whole story behind it.

The main reason we are boycotting the game’s official developers and the game itself is that they are condoning mod creators who insert malicious code into mods. In the game’s Steam Workshop, there is a very popular mod called SCAV, which is used by many people. However, we discovered that the creator of this mod embedded malicious code that allows them to arbitrarily prevent any user from playing the game (by causing it to crash directly). When we reported this to the official developers, their response was merely that they had contacted the author to modify the code. Only under pressure from us did they later take down the mod.

Furthermore, in the leaked chat logs between the official developers and the mod author, it was revealed that the developers were consistently siding with the author, praising them as a well-known creator and claiming that they had accidentally included the malicious code. They merely asked the author to remove it and even offered to send them related merchandise as a gift—essentially indulging the creator of a malicious mod. In the chat logs, the officials also suggested that some critical players were making unfounded accusations and claimed that players were showing excessive hostility toward the game.

These actions by the official developers have caused us great dissatisfaction. We hope players from around the world can understand and support us. We truly appreciate your support—let’s work together to create a better gaming environment.

English Review
Not recommended — not because of the game itself, but because of how malicious mod behavior is tolerated and enabled.

Within this game’s mod ecosystem, there exists severely unethical behavior that violates basic modding community norms.

A mod author secretly embedded a blacklist system into their mod.
When the game launches, it checks the player’s Steam ID, and if the ID is on the blacklist, the game is forcibly closed without any warning or notification.

This is not “author preference” — this is deliberate malicious code.

What makes it worse is how arbitrary the blacklist is:
Players have been added simply for politely reporting bugs, with no harassment or hostile language involved — merely because the author found them “annoying”.

After the source code was publicly exposed, the author:

Openly admitted the blacklist existed

Claimed they had done nothing wrong

Personally attacked critics

And members of their inner circle publicly insulted players and even threatened to upload malware mods in the future

All of this happened publicly and is well-documented.

The most disappointing part is the developer’s response.

In other communities (e.g. RimWorld), developers have directly intervened and removed malicious mods.
Here, however, players who contacted the devs found that:

The mod author was treated with excessive deference (addressed as a “respected teacher”)

The author reportedly received official merchandise gifts

The devs only made polite suggestions instead of taking action

While simultaneously telling the community that “the developer has requested the removal of malicious code”

This contradiction was later confirmed by the mod author themselves, who leaked the chat screenshots.

In short:

Buying this game also means accepting an ecosystem where
malicious mod behavior is tolerated and effectively protected.

If you care about:

Basic player rights

Mod transparency and safety

Developers genuinely standing with players

Then please think carefully before purchasing.

If you buy the game, dont download any mods in workshop or at your own risk.
Devs allow malicious mods in workshop. Also sending gifts to those mods creator and hope they will "delete" the code. However creator is not going to do so. The mods are still avaliable in the workshop.
The mod is designed to shutdown the game without notice if you are in the banned list of the creator. After warned by devs, creators claimed they will add Virus and Trojan into the mod if they are "unhappy" again. No one knows if any mods already contain malicious codes or not at the moment.
