AI Generated content in Battlefield
I am writing to express concern about the use of AI to generate assets within Battlefield 6.

Within the 'Windchill' pack of the Battlefield 6 in-game store, there is a sticker called 'Winter Warning' which has the hallmarks of AI generated features. Most notably, the gun on the sticker appears to have two barrels which blend into the gun abnormally.

EA may want to investigate the employee/contractor who generated the image and review other images they have worked on as it is evident that they have used AI to make the image and have not actually designed anything themselves.

Additionally, Battlefield 6 does not have AI content disclosures on their steam store page. Not disclosing AI use goes against one of the requirements of listing a game on the Steam store.

As a creator myself, I want to give EA the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know their 'designer' did this. Creators like myself find the use of AI detrimental to the industry and it goes against the idea of the creative process.

Please remove and replace the AI generated content and/or update your store page to correctly reflect the AI use. There are plenty of creators in the design space that would jump at the opportunity to be able to design artwork for major publishers. AI generation like this, erodes that creative direction.

If I had known that Battlefield 6 was going to go down the path of AI generated content I would have reconsidered purchasing the game.

At first I was hoping this was a bait post but it doesn't seem to be the case after further google fu.

Apparently there is ALOT of people as of a day ago crying out about this. Since it's on a pricier bundle, it's drawn alot of attention. Lets hope we can get a confirmation from DICE if it's accurate.

You had a strong running start battlefield 6, don't fumble now.
any ads you see on TV, streaming services, websites, advertisement pictures in newspapers are fully created with AI and even CGI effects in shows or movies are done with help of AI, also for example to change old people (faces) into younger ones or vice versa

creating "tools" with the help of AI to develop a game is different .. imagine to develop a "map editor" with the help of AI .. it is different ..

what do you think how many CS2 weapon skins are completely made and done by AI and such people even earn money by selling them through CS2 or Steam marketplace .. this is ridiculous .. i would never touch CSGO/CS2 in first case

But somone has before to tell the AI what to do and this is creative too. In future AI will create AI.

The problem is we paid $69.99 before tax on this VS a commercial that comes on for free. Streaming services use AI for recommendations on your next show or movie.
newspapers use AI for again personalization and recommendations, and to automate alot of the grunt backend work.

Paying $69.99 for a game just to have randomly generated things in it, that most people can do at home is a little slap in the face. People already fixed their sticker and re uploaded it online.

It brings into further question how much of the game was done with AI now, which can really hurt battlefield 6's player growth going forward. How much of the game development was AI? Is all the cosmetics AI? Getting charged full price for minimal auto generated work they didn't bother checking for errors stings.

This, exactly. Expecting people to front up cash for AI-created tat is a special level of arrogant, and it's not like such profile stickers were particularly desirable even when they were human-made. Why is it that the only use marketers can think of for AI is the laziest, most annoying thing imaginable?
Not sure what is more arrogant, EA thinking nobody would notice or EA trying to sell it for additional money.

Good grief.

Yes, but there are a lot of games that are cheaper than that. Why should gamers pay more for less?

most people make $30 / hour now? Regardless of that. Telling someone to buy AI slop just because they can afford it, is.. a weird take.
The game is AI controlled cause the sudden change in dynamic is pretty obvious when it happens all the time.
I have also noted there is presently a featured gamemode showcased by DICE/EA that has an AI generated thumbnail on the main page of the game. "RPGs vs Golf Carts."
I'm not sure if it is a community gamemode or one DICE or EA themselves had created but it's disappointing to see them resort to peddling this crap. I suppose BF6 is gonna go the way Black Ops 7 did in the end.

That's... not what people mean by "AI" in this context. It's about AI-generated cosmetics, not "rigged" matchmaking. I wouldn't be surprised if BF6 does use "EOMM", but that's a different issue from AI art.

it's the principle and if they are willing to use AI for the in store slop shop how much of the game had AI in put?

How many of the maps were in part, or fully created by AI?

Are the in game menus human made or AI made?

What about the core functions of the games hit reg? How much AI input was made into that?

How much AI in put was put into the match making?

Do you see how not disclosing the use of AI just fore the in store slop shop can have flow on aeffects?

EADICE Is now a privately owned company and these private companies are more likely to do cost cutting to make more money, and with the buy out costing 55 BILLION Dollars, the cost cutting probably goes very deep.
