Vive Pro started to act up as second monitor
Since last driver update of my RX6600 my Vive Pro started to act up as second monitor, Windows recognizes it as second screen, and when i starts steamvr i have a notification, that steamvr detected that headset works as a monitor, and sugests to switch to direct mode, however, doing so results nothing, just restarts steamvr with same massage. Also< with steamvr starts up a second window with just red screen. The main problem is, that's if i act uncarfully, and starts to drag tab in browser, screen of headset automaticly turns red and there is no other option but restart steamvr. I already tryed to roll back to the previous driver version, but problems stays, i also tryed to completle reinstall gpu driver, reinstall steamvr, switching it to previous and beta versions, nothing helped, any suggestions how to fix it?

last time I've had this issue, reinstalling gpu driver while the VR headset is disconnected fixed it for me, but just temporarily - the issue just magically reappeared

reinstalled drivers while headset was disconected, no effect for me, guess we waiting for next GPU driver from AMD to fix it

Ok, it's looks like i found a temporary solution for this problem, i deleted latest GPU drivers, and installed version 24.3.1 while my VR-set was disconected from pc, and it looks like problem is gone for now. Let's hope that in next driver version AMD will fix this problem

I encountered the same problem when recently testing an AMD RX 9070. The only workaround that worked for me was to install the oldest available driver 25.3.1.

Following is a report of all the things I tried to resolve the issue.

Main system components:
  • B650
  • 7800X3D
  • RX 9070
  • Windows 11 Pro 24H2

Initial driver installation (HMD was disconnected.):
  1. Replaced GPU while following this guide of Display Driver Uninstaller: https://youtu.be/4fN6bgGJseU
  2. Installed chipset driver and restarted: 7.11.26.2142
  3. Installed dGPU driver and restarted: 25.12.1-win11-b
  4. Installed iGPU driver and restarted: 25.12.1-win11-a

Steps until the issue was resolved:
  1. Uninstalled Logitech GHUB
  2. Temporarily removed folder: ...\Steam\steamapps\common\SteamVR\drivers\gamepad
  3. Temporarily changed resolution and orientation of HMD in Windows display settings individually, which caused the HMD to not be detected at all in SteamVR
  4. Temporarily changed to SteamVR beta
  5. Reinstalled SteamVR
  6. Temporarily tested different connection order on gpu
  7. Installed different drivers including Adrenalin software:
    a) 25.12.1
    b) 25.11.1
    c) 25.10.1
    d) 25.9.1
    e) 25.8.1
    f) 25.6.1
    g) 25.5.1
    h) 25.3.1 (Adrenalin software did/could not open)
Whether any of the steps above except for the last had anything to do with the resolution of the problem is debatable. To me it seems like a driver issue and I recommend testing the oldest available driver first.

Reading the thread above combined with what I found, the issue seems unlikely to be resolved. This is in part why I returned the graphics card, as my RTX 3070 can still run the HMD without compatibility issues. I guess I'll be upgrading in a decade then.
