Sky Harvest

Sky Harvest

Played the demo for Next Fest, some glaring issues
So I want to start out with that I love this genre and always welcome a new title. However, what drew me to this game was not the artwork, but the screenshots. That's a problem because the artwork should represent what the game is offering visually, which at first glance, is not the case. The artwork promoting the game is a different style than the game play itself. Then when you start the game, you have ANOTHER style introduced, which again doesn't reflect the models actually used in the game. There should be a visual consistency throughout, through promo, animation, and models used.

I understand doing this for a pixel art game, but not for a 3D game. The promo artwork and animations are cute, but they don't match the style used for the game itself.

I encountered a bug where the camera would just pivot around the character nonstop, so I couldn't play without getting motion sickness, but upon meeting the mayor, there is another change in the artwork, artwork that should be used in the promo instead.

Hopefully this gets resolved, consistency is key for any design project. Good luck with this game.

I agree, I played the first demo and I think I liked the earlier art work and characters better then the new ones.

Hey,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback, I really appreciate it. You bring up a very valid point about visual consistency, and it’s something we’ve been actively re-evaluating.

As for the camera issue, that’s definitely not intended, it should be patched very soon.

Thank you again for your thoughtful critique and kind words about the genre and the project. Feedback like yours really helps us polish Sky Harvest into something special.

You are most welcome. I know it can get hard to hear it sometimes, but honestly, I appreciate you and the team taking it into consideration. I'm a graphic designer, so I get it; it can be hard to take constructive criticism and not take it personally. Please know I commented because I definitely see something really special in this game, the environment is fun and colorful and I do like the mayor and dog's design, and the player character! It's easy to say what's wrong, but it's harder to say *why*. And with design in general, consistency is key, and sometimes when you have your nose so close in a project, it can be hard to see issues, which is why taking feedback is important (Believe me, happens to me a lot!).

Game design is hard work, a lot of love and thought poured into a project. Please don't get discouraged, I know you all can do it! I think this game has a lot of potential, and I'm excited to see where it goes! Keep up the good work!
