i do have an nvidia GPU, but i havent really had this issue on ubuntu or most debian based distros, this is solely on arch linux from what i can tell. if it is an nvidia issue, im honestly not sure ill be able to do anything except find a driver version that works better.
settings -> interface -> make sure you have 'Enable context menu focus compatibility mode' checked
sadly this didn't work however i did find a way around it, although its not the greatest way ever. right clicking to show a popup menu then clicking on something like subscribed items actually worked for me and i can see everything i'm subscribed to but just clicking on it raw seems to pass through it still.
a better example from what i noticed is its like the dropdowns are ghosts, you can see it, hover over it, see the hovering affects, but once you click the item in the workshop dropdown it doesn't register that im clicking it and instead thinks i'm clicking off it so it disappears and clicks whatever was under the drop down.
for now ill have to live with this, but i have a suspicion its my window manager.
Yeah, it is not, probably, an Arch Linux problem, but your window manager or arch version of your window manager... Use something light like Mate or go KDE; avoid gnome/anything that relies on libadwaita...
yeah i thought so, but i use xfwm, i may try openbox or change my de entirely to something like KDE plasma and see if that has any issues (it probably wont have any). could definitely just be XFCE4. thank you guys for the help, im gonna test different window managers and environments.
When I used the context menu on a game library entry (for example to open the "Game properties" dialog box or to select the Uninstall option, the context menu opens, but when trying to click an entry, the click goes throughto whatever is underneath. Different section of the client, same problem. I found out it happened all across the client.
I found a solution. I don't remember if it was from the AI Overview on Google or some Reddit forum or some Steam forun topic.
Have you, by any chance, Focus follows mouse"option enabled in your window manager/desktoip environment? I really loved that feature but I had to disable it in order to have a working Steam Client. Again, it's the option from your DE/WM, not from the Steam Client. Then restart the client and it should work fine.
Please excuse any typo. I don't have English spell check enabled.
