The controller has stopped working since the last patch

I was playing peacefully this morning when, after the patch was applied this afternoon, my controller mysteriously stopped working in the game. The options menu displays "No controller connected." I've tried other games like Expedition 33 and Elden Ring, and they work perfectly. It's an Xbox controller, and it's connected by cable. I've tried disabling Steam Input in the game options, but it still doesn't work.

Same here! Wireless Xbox controller detected by Steam, but it doesn’t work in-game.

I'm having the same issue. bought the game last night everything worked with my controller now it wont acknowledge its there. controller still works on every other game i've tried.

Same issue. Played it earlier today, went to eat, came back to an update and now controller doesn't work

A comment on another thread said to disable Steam Input in the games settings when you right click it in your Steam library, and it seemed to work somewhat.
I can now play with the controller plugged in, but nore wirelessly

My edge, dualsense and xbox controllers are all working fine. I never use wireless or install game mods. I disable steam input and have the latest firmware and the latest game patch.

Same problem here. Xbox 360 wireless controller stopped working after Hotfix 1.5.2. Computer with Linux CachyOS, tested under multiple versions of proton...

8bitdo Pro 2 wireless, controller stopped working after patch. Steam input, no steam input, nothing works.

Same issue with a Dualshock 4 controller. Played this afternoon and it worked just fine.

don't know if this will work..
But with other games, I found that I had to either enable steam controller driver or disable it to get a controller to work. Maybe the same thing happened with the patch since in the notes it said something about activating Steam controllers with this game...

It's in the steam library properties... somewhere. I'm going from memory, here....

Same here. For me the controller stopped working after forge update 1.4. Last update actually made it work again, but this one broke it again lol. Meanwhile I was using DS4Windows "virtual controller emulator" to get the controller to work. I guess I have to start using it again. Hopefully it works. Bloody hell.

I tried it, and I can play using my controller with this program. I would prefer not to, but this seems to be the only way for me. I have playstation buttons showing in game tho, instead of x-box. Doesn't bother me as I have used both controllers, but for some this might be a nuisance as well as downloading additional weird programs just to be able to play a game.
