I highly recommend you to actually use both. Because XBOX is also Microsoft you can easy link up your controller to your pc. Either through wireless or use one of these USB cables that are meant for phones, XBOX controllers have the same port.
Because just strolling around and walking is mutch more smooth with controller, also you get a semi free camera by pressing R3 ans looking around with left stick, something PC players need a mod to be able to do.
On the contrary, managing your inventory (which will get loaded if you are loot greedy like i am) is way better with MnK. So i switch it up for inventory management and also to read some tooltips (controller seems to not be able to highlight all of these, as someone who is new to DnD in general, i often need to read what all the effects do.)
So yeah, if you happen to have an XBOX just buy it on pc and use your xbox controller, is what i did.
Otherwiese:
MnK for better loot management
Controler for better movement.
Regarding the tooltips they mentioned not being accesible on the controller, it is actually there you just need to toggle it on/off
